The movie "Eternal Sunshine of a spotless mind" shows jim carey undergoing an FMRI technique to locate the memories of a particular person and has it erased. Is this possible?
Answer:
No, this isn't possible. First of all, we still don't really understand the human brain that well. It would almost impossible to pinpoint the exact location of a memory. Another problem is that should you start destroying neurons to erase memories, you're probably going to interfere with other functions of the brain as well as just erasing the memory. It's a good movie, but at this point it's just science fiction.
