If I skip taking my Wellbutrin SR for the day will it be ok to drink alcohol ?

I just started taking it 2 weeks ago. Will be going to a wedding and would like to have some drinks. I know drinking increases your chances of a seizures...
Answer:
Wellbutrin has a relatively long half-life of 24 hours. This means that even if you skipped your dose you would still have the drug in your system and probably will have it in your system for at least two weeks. Not to mention, Wellbutrin doesn't work as well if you skip doses, this is a medication that has to build up to a therapeutic dose in your system and can be affected by missing a dose or being late to take it. While drinking alcohol would increase your risk for seizures and other ill side effects, you can use your best judgement. As a healthcare professional, my suggestion is to steer clear of the alcohol to avoid any possible problems. You can still have a great time even if you don't have a drink. It's ultimately up to you, you know your body. If you start to feel bad, stop drinking and tell those closest to you to keep an eye on you. In case of a seizure, make sure that those around you know that all they need to do is make sure you don't hit your head. Anything else you may have heard about seizures is myth. Best of luck to you!
