In terms of effectiveness, Is there a difference between name brand prescription and generic medication?

If there is what is it?
If not then why do some people prefer name brand over generic if both are effective?
Answer:
There is no difference as far as the active ingredients. However, some of the inactive ingredients may be different. To most people, the inactive ingredients don't matter. But some people have allergies to dyes, etc. That is one of the reasons people choose brand over generic. Another reason is that people think if it costs more, it must work better.
